Study to improve the operation of the ultrafiltration unit for milk condensation (MEVGAL) / Industrial funding, MEVGAL S.A., Greece

Main goal of the project (on behalf of MEVGAL SA) Is to propose measures to combat pollution and to improve the operation of the UF unit, to prolong the life of the membranes (simultaneously achieving the desired milk concentration) without significant structural interventions at the UF unit and without a negative impact on the overall production process. The proposed actions within the project can be grouped into a “theoretical” study of the problem (review of UF module operation, bibliographic review, etc.), small-scale laboratory tests for the study of membrane contamination mechanisms, and identifying the basic causes of their pollution. Finally, potential (limited) pilot trials will be proposed at MEVGAL SA’s facilities.
