Vasilis graduated with a Diploma from Chemical Engineering department of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) in 2004. He holds a Master of Science in Chemical Technology from the department of Chemistry of AUTh, accomplished in 2010. Meanwhile, he has been occupied in fuels and lubricants quality control department of the Hellenic Army, testing aircraft’s, helicopter’s and battle tank’s motor oils and greases. He has joined Prof. Anastasios J. Karabelas research group since early 2009. His research at NRRE mainly focuses on photocatalatytic oxidation of recalcitrant micropollutants presented in water, photocatalytic reduction of hexavalent chromium and nitrates and photochemical oxidation of synthetic and real industrial wastewaters. He has recently been involved in in-situ regeneration of Powdered Activated Carbon and in light intensity distribution in a photocatalytic reactor. He has participated in more than 30 scientific workshops, international and national conferences. His research activities resulted to 10 peer-reviewed scientific papers and 1 book chapter until nowadays.

In his spare time, Vasilis likes working out at the gym, watching sports and DJing.
