Integrated Exposure for Risk Assessment in Indoor Environments (INTERA) / Funded by the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC)
The objective of the project was to study the exposure to indoor air contaminants, one of the major sources of exposure to environmental health stressors. To better understand, quantify and characterize an indoor environment, a full chain mechanistic approach is needed, dealing with several sub-tasks, including – The relation among the sources of contamination and the levels of indoor contamination -Air pollution modelling to calculate spatial and temporal pattern of indoor concentrations. – The actual human exposure to indoor contamination. -Modelling internal dose of contaminants -Health outcome assessments. The above full chain approach was implemented in a dynamic simulation environment, where the full chain approach was connected by both forward and backward logic flows, compiling an interactive tool among the several modules.
